One of a series of paperbacks designed for reluctant fiction readers, or for children who want more from their non-fiction than just pictures and captions, this book of real-life stories about extraordinary women scientists from 400 BCE to the present day features drawings, maps, diagrams and activities. Read about the ‘mother of computer programming’; the discoverer of sex chromosomes; an astronomer who discovered eight comets and won gold medals from two kings; a physicist who discovered the secret of nuclear fission.
